Frequently Asked Questions

How Can We Help?

What is your new client procedure?

After you contact us, we will send you some documents that will gather some basic information such as demographics, medical history, insurance coverage, and mental health questions. Take your time and fill these out before your first session. Remember that honesty is the best policy on these things because we only know what you share with us. At your first session we will discuss what you are hoping to achieve through therapy and get to know each other a little better.

What are individual therapy sessions like?

Whether this is your first time trying therapy, you are looking for your 15th therapist, or maybe even you are looking for a therapist for someone you love...here’s the basics. Sessions can be in-person at my office or on tele-health. You can do a combination of both if you need the flexibility.

You will have the space to work through your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a nonjudgemental and inviting space. Sessions are typically one hour.

Who do you work best with?

In my years of practice, I have worked with families, couples, children, and adults. I enjoy working with all walks of life. I work from a trauma and an attachment perspective. What that means is that I believe a lot of things can be healed by looking at how we do relationships with other people, including the relationship you have with yourself. My primary focus has been on trauma, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, and addiction.

One thing I do happen to be a little better at than some, is talking with men in a way that feels less clinical in nature. If that is what you are looking for, then read on.

The roles of father, husband, son, partner, and so many more are complex. You can start gaining insight capacity and, with some work, you can regain control of your life and be the kind of person you deserve to be. We call this Self Leadership.

What about your personality?

What I have found my passion in is helping people reach their goals and become the person that they desire to be. I’m a pretty down to earth guy that genuinely wants you to be successful. I don’t use big words to sound fancy and I use humor as often as is appropriate. If you’re looking for a “man’s man”, “cool therapist”, or “regular person” to help you get through some tough stuff. I might be your guy... I might not. Only one way to find out, huh? We can talk about what you need and what I can help with. If I'm not the therapist for you then I'll give you the names of some other therapists that might be a better fit.

No commitments, no hassles. Just dignity, respect, and integrity.
